START A GARDEN NOW! ???? It could be a matter of survival!

Start a garden now. Don’t put it off. It could be a matter of survival, and if you wait until you need it, it might be too late!

The other day I saw a video about prepping, and the lady talked about picking up garden tools because if the SHTF (btw, that means “SUGAR hits the fan” y’all 😉 ) , we’ll all need to be gardening.

Planning to have a survival garden to feed your family if the SHTF? Well, you’re liable to have a dead family then because you’re likely to struggle to grow enough food to feed everyone and you’ll use up your seeds and have nothing to show for it. Y’all might starve to death!

YOU HAVE TO GARDEN BEFORE IT BECOMES A MATTER OF SURVIVAL

IT’S ABOUT SURVIVAL IF YOU’RE DOING IT NOW – BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO LEARN!

Here are a few of the resources I mentioned during the video:

Charles Dowding (No Dig Gardening)

Just because you’ve watched a documentary with Paul Gautchi or Polyface farms, or you like watching Charles Dowding videos on YouTube doesn’t mean you’re ready to successfully garden to feed your family.

SOME QUESTIONS ABOUT SURVIVAL GARDEN I DISCUSS IN THIS VIDEO:

  • Where do you start your seeds? How much sun do they need?
  • What happens if your seedlings are really tall? Is that good?
  • What end of your garden is north versus south?
  • Where do you plant different crops? How tall will they get?
  • What’s the difference between determinate tomatoes and indeterminate tomatoes?
  • How far apart should you plant tomatoes where you live? (Because you can’t necessarily go by Square Foot Gardening EVERYWHERE for EVERY PLANT)
  • Do you even know what Square Foot Gardening is?
  • What about No Dig Gardening?

LET’S TALK ABOUT PESTS

Do you know the difference between a leaf footed nymph and an assassin bugs? Which one would you rather have in your garden?

What is blossom end rot and how do you prevent it?

What about making compost?

Which would you rather have in your garden: Earthworms? Pickleworms? Earworms? What’s the difference? And how do you encourage the good worms and deter the bad ones?

The point is, there’s a LOT to learn about gardening, in general, and specific to your area. Don’t put this off until a SHTF scenario. It will be too late. Start gardening now. Here’s an article about planting a survival garden.
