I love this old fashioned buttermilk pie recipe! This quintessential southern pie is a perfect spring or summertime dessert, although it’s delicious anytime! It’s super easy to make. You really can’t get it wrong! And you just need a few ingredients.
Some people keep this refrigerated (like myself). Others keep it out on the counter. Do what you like, but regardless of how you store it, I can’t imagine it will be around longer than a day or two!
Here’s how to make this delicious old fashioned buttermilk pie.
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter, melted
1 cup buttermilk
2 tsp. vanilla
1 Tbsp. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
- Preheat oven to 350º.
- Mix together all ingredients.
- Pour into pie shell and bake at 350º for 50 minutes.
- Turn oven temp down to 325º and bake for an additional 10 minutes.
- Take pie out of oven and let come down to room temperature and chill before serving. (This pie should not be eaten hot. It’s much better when it’s cool.)
